My Ode to Books

Written for Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie Sunday Writing Prompt – Ode.

What is an ode?

A lyric poem, typically one in the form of an address to a particular subject, written in varied or irregular metre.

For the purpose of this prompt consider your ode can be written as both poetry and prose. Write an ode to something meaningful in your life.

I know your secrets, that spill forth abound;

In inky forms of enriched legacy.

We met under blankets, in the folds of bound pages;

As my world slumbered, our bond extended.

We journeyed far and wide,

Riding the waves of emotions;

Meeting and parting along the way,

With equal smiles and sorrows.

Entertaining my mind, you enveloped my soul;

A faithful companion you became.

Amidst a crowd or deserted a land,

Clasping our hands we remained.

My love for books have no bounds. Whether in a crowded place, or in quietude, a book is my go-to companion (I’m not a very social creature). Books have been an important part of my life, since forever….

Wrote an ode for the first time, but books are worth it. πŸ™ˆ
