“Been fifteen years since graduation, but we’re finally vacationing at a beach,” Cal joked as the four friends stood watching the sunrise.
“Oh my! We’d made so many plans,” Susan chuckled as she listed them. “Partying all night, getting high and drunk at the same time, skinny dipping-“
“-I wanted to try a threesome.” Nathan chimed in.
And for the next few minutes, a spirited discussion followed as each of them described the vacation wishes of their 20-year-old selves.
“I feel like an ancient relic sometimes, when I see the clothes, language- infact lifestyle of the youth today,” Roshni sighed. Her kids would soon enter their teens, making this disconnect all the more personal.
Susan slung an arm around her shoulder in comfort before adding, “We’ve come a long way. My younger-self with her lofty dreams wouldn’t have been too impressed with being ‘just somebody’s assistant‘, you know.”
“Hmm… Never thought cordial and content would be in my dictionary someday.” Brash and hyperactive Nathan was now a self-disciplined and successful artist.
“Well, here’s to becoming wiser as we grow older,” Cal toasted, as the others mimed raising their wine glasses against the golden backdrop.
