Choice- #FPQ

Fandango’s Provocative Question. Each week I will pose what I think is a provocative question for your consideration. By provocative, I don’t mean a question that will cause annoyance or anger… What I do mean is a question that is likely to get you to think, to be creative, and to provoke a response.

Have you ever had to make what turned out to be a life changing decision? If so, do you ever wish that you could go back in time and make a different decision? What decision was that and how do you think your life would have changed if you’d made a different one?

I don’t know if it can be classified as a life changing decision, but till now, its one of the major decisions I’ve had to take and know that it’s effects would last for some considerable time.
For my senior secondary education, we have to select a stream from the options of science, commerce and humanities. I took commerce, even though I was very good in the subjects offered in humanities and commerce was an unknown field.

For the next two years, I regretted this choice and found business and accounts very dry and boring as subjects. But somehow I managed to finish my schooling with marks that I knew could land me in a good college.
But now, I took the decision to change my subject to that of history, my favourite subject in middle school.

It was a big decision as there were so many people telling me of the wonderful opportunities that commerce would provide and the different career options in it. But I knew that studying those papers for another 3 years wasn’t something I could do, AT ALL.

Now, I do give into temptation and reflect on it sometimes, what if…
But overall, I’m really happy with my decision and don’t regret it. 🙂

    1. Since commerce was my choice, not forced upon me, I had a hard time those 2 yrs but couldn’t do anything about it. 🙈
We do doubt our choices, but I feel in the end either we change it if we can or learn to make peace with it.
      Thanks for commenting! 😊😊

    1. 😊 Thanks
My mother did support me, coz she knew that I’d be very unhappy in life even if I got a more stable accounting job that I disliked.
It was scary, changing streams completely. But I knew that it was something I loved, so I would give it my very best 😊
Thanks a lot, for reading and commenting 🤗

  1. I adore your clear state of mind in making a strong decision, Priya. We get swayed but what matters is to choose something the heart is inclined to. All the best to your future choices!
